Prep Time: 40 min.

This fresh fruit medley combines seven different fruits for a sweet, colorful appetizer, side dish, or dessert everyone will love. Slice the fruit into flower shapes for a festive touch, and serve this recipe for weekend barbecues, holiday parties, and everyday treats!

Is there anything better than fresh fruit when the weather gets warm? I love to take advantage of the in-season produce with bright recipes like my 4th of July salad, melon ball skewers, and chocolate strawberries on special occasions.

However, when it comes to everyday options, this fruit medley recipe is my go-to. It’s bright, refreshing, and deliciously sweet, free from any heavy dressings. I like to cut the fruit into flower shapes to make it extra fun to eat, but it’s tasty either way!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!

• Berries - I use a combination of blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries.

• Kiwis - I use regular kiwi, but golden kiwi would also taste great.

• Cantaloupe - Look for a heavy cantaloupe that sounds hollow when gently tapped and gives off a subtly sweet smell.

• Watermelon - I buy whole watermelon and slice it into pieces, using leftovers to make watermelon popsicles or a watermelon feta chessboard salad. However, you can typically find individual watermelon slices at your local grocery store.

How to Make a Fresh Fruit Medley

1. Slice the kiwi, mango, and cantaloupe, removing the peels. Then, use a cookie cutter to shape the fruit into flowers.

2. Cut the watermelon slices into quarters, and then halve the quarters to create bite-sized pieces.

3. Arrange the watermelon pieces on a large platter. Add the remaining fruit as desired. I like to alternate shapes and colors or keep each group together. Enjoy!

Tip: Save any leftover fruit to use in smoothies!

Possible Variations

• Swap the fruit – Use pineapple, mango, grapes, melon, papaya, dragon fruit, or apples, depending on the season or what you have.

Add herbs – Sprinkle fresh mint, basil, or lemon balm over the top for a refreshing twist.

• Add crunch – Sprinkle in granola, chopped nuts, or toasted coconut for texture right before serving.

• Sweeten it up – Drizzle honey, agave, maple syrup, or a honey-lime glaze over the fruit for extra flavor.

Serving Suggestions

I often serve this fruit medley as an afternoon snack or dessert. However, it also makes for a kid-friendly side dish alongside main courses like a cheddar and chicken quiche, tortilla pockets, or a Greek salad wrap.

FAQs

How can I prevent my fresh fruit medley from oxidizing?

If you’re not serving this recipe right away, drizzle the fruit with lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice, or pineapple juice to prevent it from browning as quickly.

Can I use frozen fruit for a fruit medley recipe?

You could use frozen and thawed fruit that has been drained. However, if you can avoid it, I don’t recommend it. Fresh fruit will be tastier, have a stronger flavor, and prevent your medley from becoming soggy.

How long does a homemade fruit medley last?

This recipe is best served right away, but you can transfer leftovers to an airtight container. Store them in the refrigerator for up to two days.
