Get the party started with these fun New Year’s Toasts. They are shaped like party hats and topped with a classic combination of cream cheese and smoked salmon. You can add any toppings you like: cucumber, cheddar, avocado, ham, pastrami, brie, tomatoes, etc. Just be sure to trim the sides so the hat shape stays intact. Bring out the bubbly, and let’s ring in the New Year.

1. Use a rolling pin to flatten your toast.

2. Trim the bread into party hat shapes. I cut a ‘prototype’ to shape all the other pieces after.

3. Use a large round cookie cutter or a glass to curve the bottom of the toast so they resemble hats.

4. Make smoked salmon discs using the small round cookie cutter. You can cut some of the discs in half, too.

5. Top the toast with cream cheese and smoked salmon discs.

6. Add a squeeze of lemon juice.

7. Place fresh dill on top of the hat for the pom pom.

8. Arrange the toast hats on a platter and serve.
