Serving Suggestion
Top the frogs onto cupcakes for a themed birthday party or stick them onto a popsicle stick for a mess-free treat. They even make wonderful edible gifts.
Kiwi Frogs with Chocolate
Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!
- Kiwi: You’ll need three kiwis. Make sure they are firm.
- Dark chocolate: I use chocolate with 55% cocoa solids, but you can use any chocolate you like.
- Candy eyes: Available in larger supermarkets and bake shops.

Tips on Melting Chocolate
Use a double boiler, the microwave, or a small pot on low heat (be sure to stir!) If your chocolate seems too thick to pipe, add a small teaspoon of neutral tasting coconut oil to thin it out slightly.
How to Make Kiwi Frogs
- Prepare the ingredients: Peel and slice the kiwi fruit. Dry off the kiwi slices on a paper towel. Melt the chocolate and pour it into a piping utensil or piping bag.
- Pipe the dark chocolate frame, the legs, and the eyes.
- Add the candy eyes and leave to set.
- Top the chocolate frame with a kiwi slice.

Possible Variations
- Kiwi: Swap for slices of strawberry, fig, nectarine, or halved apples. Be sure to dry off the fruit with a paper towel to ensure the chocolate will stick.
- Dark chocolate: Milk or white chocolate.
- Candy eyes: Use mini marshmallows and a dollop of melted dark chocolate for pupils. White chocolate dollops topped with dark chocolate dots are an option, too.
How to Store Leftovers
Keep the frogs in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy with in the same day.
