These Strawberries with Chocolate are the easiest (most delicious) way to elevate any dessert.

Four chocolate flower toppers with white petals and a red strawberry center are arranged on a gray surface. Each treat features a dark chocolate outline that highlights the delicate petals.

Use them to decorate cakes, cupcakes, or as part of a party platter to add an elegant touch. They look complicated, but they’re surprisingly simple to prepare and always look beautiful!

Six flower-shaped treats with white chocolate petals, dark chocolate outlines, and whole strawberries in the center are arranged on a grey textured surface.

Small but impressive, these edible strawberry decorations will become a go-to in your dessert repertoire.

Recipe Tip

The strawberries are perfect for special occasions like birthday parties and holiday brunches and make a showstopping treat for Valentine’s Day alongside strawberry chocolate hearts and strawberry snacks.

Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!

Three glass bowls containing fresh strawberries, squares of dark chocolate, and squares of white chocolate on a gray surface. Each item is labeled.
  • Strawberries: Look for bright, fragrant strawberries that are medium to large in size. They should be pointy and firm with green tops.
  • Chocolate: I use a combination of white and dark chocolate for a layered flower look. I like white chocolate petals and a dark chocolate rim, but you can also do the reverse. Look for high-quality chocolate, and opt for dairy-free options if needed.

How to Make Strawberries with Chocolate

A hand pipes white chocolate from a squeeze bottle onto a square piece of parchment paper, creating a circular shape.
  1. Melt the white chocolate. Melt the chocolate in a microwave or in a double boiler over medium heat. Then, transfer it to a piping utensil or bag, and pipe a circle onto parchment paper.
A pair of hands holds a sheet of parchment with white chocolate piped in the shape of a six-petal flower with a hole in the center.
  1. Pipe the flowers. Pipe a flower pattern around the circle, and fill in the flowers. Allow the chocolate to set.
A hand pipes dark chocolate onto the edge of a white chocolate flower shape on parchment paper, all on a gray surface.
  1. Outline. Repeat the process, melting the dark chocolate. Then, use the melted chocolate to trace the perimeter of the white chocolate flower, and let the chocolate set.

  1. Serve. Top the strawberries with the flowers, and enjoy!

Possible Variations

  • Color the chocolate: Tint it with pink pitaya powder or freeze-dried strawberry powder to create a pink flower.
  • Chocolate: Use all-white chocolate, all-dark chocolate, or opt for milk chocolate for a slightly different taste.
  • Filling options: Hollow out the strawberries, pat them dry with a paper towel, and add a bit of ganache, jam, whipped cream, melted chocolate, or Nutella for a unique center.
  • Garnish: Top the chocolate flowers with crushed pecans or pistachios, mini chocolate chips, coconut flakes, sprinkles, crushed freeze-dried berries, or edible glitter for a special touch.

How to Store Leftovers

Remove the chocolate flower tops and store them separately in an airtight container at room temperature, or in the fridge if your kitchen is warm. Enjoy them within 2-3 days.

FAQs

Can I make chocolate flowers ahead of time?

Yes! The chocolate flowers can be made up to 3 days in advance. Store them flat in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator if it’s hot. Add them to the strawberries just before serving to prevent condensation or sliding.

Can kids help make the treats?

Yes, can pipe the chocolate flowers, decorate them with sprinkles, and top them onto strawberries.

Do I need tempered chocolate for this recipe?

No, tempering isn’t necessary as the flowers will be served quickly and don’t need to stay stable for long periods. Just make sure to let them set completely before serving!
