These adorable Snowman Cheese Crostini with mozzarella and basil make an excellent addition to your Christmas party menu. They are easy to make in advance, and great to serve a crowd.

To make them even more jolly, give the snowmen a halved tomato and mayo hat and arrange them on a large platter with my Christmas Bruschetta.

Recipe Tip

You can top the toasted baguette with olive oil, pesto, or tomato slices before you add the snowmen. And if you prefer not to use candy eyes, try balsamic glaze, sesame seeds, or peppercorns.

Snowman Cheese Crostini

Ingredients 

  • 1 baguette
  • 3 fresh mozzarella
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 avocado
  • 14 candy eyes, mini
  • fresh basil leaves
  • balsamic glaze

Instructions 

  • Slice the baguette.
  • Grill the baguette slices in the oven for 2-3 minutes (or stick them in a toaster) until browned on both sides.
  • Slice the mozzarella.
  • Use the medium round cutter to make the snowman’s body and the small round cutter for the face.
  • Shape the oval arms out of mozzarella.
  • Place a basil leaf on the crostini.
  • Top with the mozzarella body and face.
  • Now, shape a scarf out of carrot or avocado, or add arms.
  • Top with balsamic glaze buttons (use a toothpick or piping utensil / bag).
  • Add candy eyes.
  • Trim triangular carrot noses and place these on the face.
  • Serve.
