This cute Christmas Cheese Platter is a fun and festive way to serve cheese this holiday season. Serve it as a festive appetizer with your favorite crackers, crostini, or crusty bread.

All you need is two mozzarella balls and a canapé stick. Top with a tomato and mini mozzarella ball hat, and a few extra details, and your snowman is complete!

If you’re not a fan of mozzarella, use burrata or shape a creamy goat cheese into balls instead. Add a small bowl of olive tapenade, pesto, or even a tasty fig jam to jazz up the flavors, and enjoy!

Recipe Tip

If you prefer not to use candy eyes or cloves, try peppercorns, black olives, or cucumber peel. Use a metal straw to trim into small circles.

Equipment

  • star canapé stick

Ingredients 

  • 250 grams fresh mozzarella, 2 balls
  • 1 carrot, small
  • 1 cherry tomato
  • 1 bocconcini, mini mozzarella ball
  • 2 candy eyes
  • 9 cloves
  • fresh basil, to garnish
  • crackers, to serve

Instructions 

  • Dry the mozzarella balls on a paper towel.
  • Slice the bottom of a tomato.
  • Use a knife or spoon to remove the seeds.
  • Skewer the tomato with a half bocconcini to make the hat.
  • Place the smallest mozzarella on top of the largest on the serving platter you intend to use.
  • Push the canapé stick through mozzarella balls to keep the snowman in place.
  • Insert six cloves in the top mozzarella to make a mouth.
  • You need three cloves in the bottom mozzarella for the buttons.
  • Trim a small piece of carrot into a triangle for the nose.
  • Add the candy eyes (you can also use cloves or peppercorns).
  • Insert two basil leaves between the two cheeses to make a scarf.
  • Arrange crackers around the snowman and serve.
