Prep Time: 25 min.
These dark chocolate kiwi flowers make the most beautiful and fun treat. They are delicious as an everyday snack, but equally perfect for special occasions, Valentine's Day, anniversaries, and even the holidays.
To make this kiwi fruit dessert, you'll need just your favorite dark chocolate, kiwis, and bright, green grapes. You could use whole or halved blueberries, too, for a different look.
Serve these alone or enjoy them with my blueberry chocolate treats and chocolate covered grapes for a next-level fruit arrangement. You can even make them into kiwi pops and enjoy them straight out of the freezer for a refreshing summer recipe.
Ingredients You'll Need
Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!
• Dark chocolate: I use dark chocolate with 55% cocoa solids, but you can use any melted chocolate you prefer. If the chocolate you use is too thick, add a bit of neutral coconut oil until it has the right consistency.
• Kiwi: You want the kiwi center to be as round as possible, so avoid oval-shaped kiwis. Peel them and dry each slice off with a paper towel before you dip it in the chocolate for the best results.
• Grapes: Use similarly sized grapes and halve them lengthwise. You can use any color grapes you want.
How to Make Dark Chocolate Kiwi Flowers
1. Prepare the ingredients. Halve the grapes, melt the chocolate, peel and slice the kiwi.
2. Assemble the flowers. Pipe the chocolate on parchment paper, top with the kiwi slice and halved grapes.
3. Allow to set. Make sure the chocolate is completely set before you lift it off the parchment. I leave mine in the fridge for 15-20 minutes.
Possible Variations
• Kiwi: You can use strawberry, apple, apricot, fig, or nectarine slices.
• Dark chocolate: Swap for any chocolate you prefer. Milk or white chocolate would be delicious, too.
• Grapes: Try blueberries, blackberries, kiwi berries, or cherries for a different look and taste.
• Add details: You can add a mint or basil leaf between the grapes before the chocolate has set.
FAQs
Can I make the kiwi chocolate flowers ahead of time?
A few hours in advance will be fine, but any longer and the cut fruit will taste (and look) dull.
How can I serve the flowers?
Serve them as a delicious fruity snack or as part of a fruit platter. You can even turn them into tasty kiwi pops. Place an ice cream stick onto parchment paper and pipe the chocolate and fruit on top.
The grapes keep feeling off. What did I do wrong?
Ensure there's enough melted dark chocolate around the kiwi slice to allow the grapes to set and stick.
Why do I need to dry the kiwi slices with a paper towel?
This ensures the chocolate will stick better.
Can I freeze the kiwi flowers?
Absolutely!
