These angelic avocados would make an excellent nutritious snack any time of the year, but they are especially perfect for Christmas. They are fun to make and a great way to remind the kids how it’s best to behave with Santa watching.
Ingredients
- avocados
- mango
- candy eyes
- heart-shaped cookie cutter
- small oval-shaped cookie cutter
- medium oval-shaped cookie cutter
- round scalloped-edge cookie cutter
- the letter O cookie cutter
Instructions
1. Halve the avocado and remove the pit.
2. Slice off the rounded part at the back of both avocado halves.
3. Remove the peel from the back pieces. Shape hands out of the peel with the small oval-shaped cutter.
4. Use the round scalloped cutter to make a circle out of the peel.
5. Cut this circle into quarters for the wings.
6. Shape the feet out of avocado peel with the medium oval cutter and halve to make one set of feet.
7. For the mouth, trim the peel into a shape you like.
8. Slice a piece of mango, and use the heart-shaped cutter to make two hearts.
9. Use the ‘O’ cutter to make the ring-shaped halos out of mango.
10. Arrange all the elements on top of the avocado halves and serve.
Notes
If you are making these in advance, use lemon juice to keep the avocado fresh longer.
