I like to serve th sismoothie on its own, or alongside my Brioche French Toast or Overnight Chia Pudding. It also makes an easy snack any time of the day since it only takes five minutes to whip together.

Two glasses of strawberry smoothie garnished with fresh strawberries and mint leaves, set on a wooden surface with extra strawberries and a light-colored cloth nearby.

The best part is you can customize it in a variety of ways. Use fresh fruits when they’re in season (and at their tastiest), or try pouring the smoothie into a bowl and topping with crunchy granola, shredded coconut, and your favorite berries.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie Ingredients

Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!

  • Strawberries: I use frozen berries.
  • Banana: Frozen and chopped into small pieces to make blending easier.
  • Milk: I prefer whole milk, but you can use any.
  • Greek yogurt: I use 10% full fat Greek yogurt as I like the taste, but use what you have.
  • Dates: I love Medjool dates as they are chewy and have a caramel flavor.
  • Maple syrup: Add to taste. You may find the dates bring enough sweetness.
  • Vanilla paste: Or extract.
Six labeled bowls and containers display frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, maple syrup, Greek yogurt, dates, vanilla paste, and milk on a gray surface.

How to Make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie

  1. Add all the ingredients to a high-speed blender (milk first).
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour into serving glasses.
  4. Garnish with a strawberry and fresh mint.

Tips for Success

  • Make sure the fruit is frozen, so the drink is cold and ready to enjoy.
  • Add your liquids to the blender first for easy mixing.
  • Blend for a few minutes so the smoothie is extra creamy.

Recipe Tip

Serve the drink as a healthy snack or dessert. Top with a few chocolate chips, shredded chocolate, chocolate sauce, peanut butter, or whipped cream.

Possible Variations

  • Frozen strawberries: Use fresh strawberries, or swap for any berries you like.
  • Frozen banana: Use fresh bananas, mango, or pineapple.
  • Milk: Any type of cow’s milk, or opt for oat milk, cashew milk, or almond milk for dairy-free options. You can even use apple or orange juice.
  • Greek yogurt: Or kefir, regular yogurt, or more milk.
  • Maple syrup: Honey or date syrup.
  • Vanilla paste: Vanilla extract or a vanilla pod.
  • Add-ins: Protein powder, peanut butter, almond butter, hemp seeds, flaxseeds, chia seeds, lemon juice, freeze-dried strawberries, fresh lemon juice, or leafy greens such as kale or spinach.
  • Presentation: Pour the smoothie into a bowl and add your favorite toppings such as granola, fresh fruit, peanut butter, and seeds.

Serving Suggestion

To transform this smoothie into a milkshake, swap Greek yogurt for vanilla ice cream.

How to Store Leftovers

Cover the drink tightly and store it in the fridge. Enjoy it within 1 day (be sure to give it a stir before drinking).

FAQs

I have some smoothie leftover. What can I use it for?

You can freeze leftovers in an ice cube tray to use in your next smoothie.

My blender can’t handle frozen fruit. What can I do?

Be sure to pour in the milk first, and then let the fruit thaw for a few minutes until adding to the blender.

Can I use fresh fruit?

Yes! That would be delicious! Just be sure to add a few ice cubes, so your drink is still cold.

How else can I garnish the smoothie?

Use freeze-dried strawberries, a colourful straw, edible flowers, or a pineapple, lime, or lemon wedge.

I find the smoothie quite thick. What can I do?

Add more milk for a thinner consistency.
