Lemon Smoothie Ingredients
Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!
- Lemon: Preferably organic if possible as we need the peel and juice. Otherwise just give the lemon a good scrub. Cut away the bitter white part of the peel as much as possible.
- Mango: Cubed and frozen. If using fresh mango, add a few ice cubes.
- Greek yogurt: I use the 10% fat yogurt for extra creaminess, but use what you prefer.
- Milk: Whole cow’s milk or what you have.
- Maple syrup: To sweeten. Add to taste.
- Vanilla paste: Or extract.
- Fresh mint: Add a few leaves for freshness.

How to Make a Lemon Smoothie
- Prepare the lemon: Wash the fruit. Remove the peel (cut away the white part). Juice the lemon.
- Prepare the smoothie: Add the fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, and the remaining ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth.
- Pour into glasses.
- Final details: Garnish with a lemon, fresh mint, and serve.

Tips for Success
- If you’re not using frozen mango, be sure to add a few ice cubes.
- Use an organic lemon if possible (since we are using the peel).
- Add liquids first to the blender for easy mixing.
Possible Variations
- Milk: Swap for almond milk, cashew milk, oat milk, etc. Alternatively, use apple juice for a fruit-based smoothie.
- Mango: Frozen ripe banana or pineapple. You can use fresh fruit too, in that case add some ice cubes.
- Vanilla paste: Vanilla extract or a pod.
- Maple syrup: Agave nectar, dates, cane sugar, or honey to taste.
- Greek yogurt: Or regular yogurt, vanilla yogurt, buttermilk, kefir, or more milk.
- Add-ins: Add blueberries, spinach, kale, oats, hemp, frozen cauliflower, protein powder, chia seeds turmeric, or fresh ginger.
Serving Suggestion
Make a lemon smoothie bowl, top with crunchy granola, fresh fruit, and a drizzle of almond butter.
How to Store Leftovers
Transfer leftovers to a glass, cover, and store in the fridge for 1 day. Be sure to stir before drinking.
FAQs
Yes. The drink is best to drink fresh, but you can make it 1-2 hours ahead. Keep it in the fridge until serving and stir.
Do remove as much of the white part of the lemon peel as possible to prevent the smoothie from tasting bitter.
Add more Greek yogurt and a dash of maple syrup to taste.
