Homemade garlic bread is the ultimate comfort food because nothing quite hits the spot like buttery, cheesy bread. A wonderful Spring-themed version with delicate mozzarella flowers is no exception.
For this recipe, use store-bought French bread or ciabatta. Then, slather on an easy garlic spread with room-temperature butter, fresh parsley, grated parmesan cheese, fresh garlic, and sea salt.
Broil until crisp and golden. Then, top it all with beautiful mozzarella and mango daisies for an impressive side dish everyone will love.
Perfect for Springtime entertaining (or any time of the year) and a stunning addition to any meal.
Ingredients
- 1 ciabatta
- 100 grams softened butter (1 stick)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 handful fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 50 grams parmesan (grated)
- 1 fresh mozzarella (I used maxi)
- 1 mango
- fresh basil leaves
- small round cookie cutter
- parsley stems
Instructions
1. Turn the oven on the grill to 190º C (375ºF).
2. Halve the ciabatta.
3. Mix the softened butter, half of the freshly grated parmesan, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and sea salt.
4. Spread the garlic butter mixture in equal parts on both ciabatta halves.
5. Top with the remaining grated parmesan cheese. You can use more if you want.
6. Bake the ciabatta in the oven until bubbly and golden brown. It will take about 5 minutes, but do keep an eye on they don’t burn.
7. Take the garlic bread out of the oven and allow to cool slightly.
8. Halve the fresh mozzarella lengthwise.
9. Cut the halves into thin ‘petals’.
10. Slice the mango thinly and use the round cutter to make discs.
11. Place 6 mozzarella slices in a flower pattern onto the garlic bread and top with a mango disc.
12. Arrange mozzarella flowers to cover the entire halves.
13. Decorate with parsley stems and fresh basil leaves.
14. Serve.
