Hot Smoked Salmon Dip Ingredients
Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!

- Hot smoked salmon:ย Use any hot smoked salmon (plain, garlic, or spicy).
- Greek yogurt:ย I always opt for 10% for the creamiest texture, but use whichever yogurt you prefer.
- Crรจme fraรฎche:ย Or sour cream. Adds a tangy flavor that complements the salmon.
- Lemon:ย You will need the juice of half a lemon. Slice the remaining lemon to garnish your platter.
- Seasoning:ย Add sea salt and ground pepper to taste. The smoked salmon is already quite salty, so taste as you go.
- Cucumber: To serve.ย Pairs well with the creamy dip and gives a nice crunch. English or Persian cucumbers are the best options (not pictured).
How to Plate a Hot Smoked Salmon Dip

- Place a small bowl in the middle of a platter, facing down.

- Arrange cucumber slices around it.

- Remove the bowl, and spoon the hot smoked dip into the center. Smooth it over with the back of a wet spoon.

- Arrange halved lemon slices on top of the cucumber slices.

- Top halved lemon slices along the inside of the dip, too.
Possible Variations
- Hot smoked salmon:ย Swap it for cold smoked salmon, or another smoked fish, such as trout or mackerel.
- Greek yogurt:ย Try cream cheese or mayo. You may need to add more lemon juice.
- Herbs:ย Instead of fresh dill, use dried dill, or try chopped fresh parsley, coriander, basil, chives, or green onions.
- Add-ins:ย Sriracha, capers, red onions, shallots, jalapeรฑos, Tabasco, fresh chili, hot honey, horseradish, lemon zest, or dried chili flakes.
- Cucumber: Radishes, carrots, broccoli, or cauliflower.
How to Store Leftovers
Keep them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy it within 1-2 days.
FAQs
Yes, up to a day in advance is fine. Keep it covered in the fridge and wait to plate until a few hours before serving, so the cucumber doesnโt get dull. Take the cold dip out 30 minutes before serving so it comes to room temperature.
Use it as a sandwich topping, spoon it onto your salad, or top it onto Parmesan chips for a tasty bite.
Crusty bread, focaccia, breadsticks, bagels, pretzels, crostini, cruditรฉs, or crackers would all be delicious options.
