These Christmas Treats with marzipan and chocolate are a delicious option for the holidays. Made with just three ingredients, these sweets are simple to prepare and perfect for gifting and parties!

Every holiday season, my kids and I spend at least one day in the kitchen, preparing all our favorite Christmas cookies, candies, and desserts. Of course, gingerbread cookies, a Nutella Christmas tree, and chocolate Christmas trees are always on the list. However, in recent years, these marzipan Christmas treats have become one of our favorite traditions.
A fun way to add variety to our December dessert platters, these marzipan bites are sweet, chocolatey, and so easy that even the littlest in your home can help assemble them. They’re the perfect tasty treat for any holiday party and are guaranteed to be loved by the whole family!
Recipe Tip
You can make the reversed version if you prefer dark chocolate to white.

Christmas Treats Ingredients
- Marzipan: I buy an unflavored marzipan log and roll it out.
- White chocolate: I use a bar of white chocolate and melt it slowly directly in a pot on the lowest heat setting while stirring to avoid burning.
- Dark chocolate: I l use chocolate with 55% cocoa solids, but use your favorite chocolate that melts well.
How to Make Christmas Treats
- Shape the marzipan squares: Roll out the marzipan and cut out the squares with the cutter.
- Top with white chocolate: Melt the chocolate, and pour it in a bowl. Cover the top and sides of the squares with chocolate. Tap off any excess and leave the gifts to set on parchment paper.
- Final details: Melt the dark chocolate. Add it to a piping utensil or bag. Pipe the bow details on parchment. Allow them to set. Pipe the ribbon details directly on the marzipan squares and top with the bows when set.

Recipe Tip
Use melted chocolate to ‘glue’ the bows to the ribbon.
Tips for Success
- Dust the cutter with icing sugar so help make it non-slip.
- If you have trouble getting the marzipan out of the cutter in one neat piece, try freezing the rolled out marzipan for 15 minutes.
- Be sure to tap off any excess when covering the marzipan squares in chocolate. This will what will give you that even top.
Possible Variations
- White chocolate: Swap for dark chocolate (using white chocolate for the ribbon), or any other coloured chocolate.
- Marzipan: Use rice crispie treats as a base or try shaping caramel, chocolate truffles, or fudge instead. Crackers and cookie dough are also a delicious alternative.
- Add-ins: Mix the marzipan with pretzel pieces, crumbled chocolate cookies, chopped candy canes, or your favorite chocolates.
- Toppings: Add candy eyes or sprinkles. You may even be able to find edible bow sprinkles.
- Presentation: Make a Christmas bark with a dark chocolate base and then top with the individual marzipan treats.
How to Store Leftovers
Keep leftover chocolates in an airtight container on the kitchen counter (unless it’s warm where you are and the chocolate will melt, then store it in the fridge). Enjoy them within 4-5 days.
FAQs
Use your favorite square biscuits, matzo crackers, cookie dough, or homemade square peanut butter cups.
Use printed parchment paper or cellophane bags tied with ribbon. Or try glass jars or chocolate gift boxes.
Yes! You can use any cookie cutter you want. However the smaller the details, the harder it may be to get the marzipan out of the form.
