Prep Time: 25 min.

This goat cheese with honey appetizer features crispy bread topped with creamy, tangy goat cheese, fruity honey, and sweet blueberries. All you need is a few minutes to assemble, and you’ll have an epic snack to feed a crowd.

When hosting, I turn to crostini bites, such as my tomato crostini and cucumber crostini, for an easy option. However, in the summer months, these honey goat cheese bites are my go-to option.

Elegant in appearance with complex flavors, they look and taste gourmet but are failproof to make! Serve this goat cheese appetizer at outdoor picnics, dinner parties, and BBQs. Or, enjoy it with friends and family as an easy dinner with a delicious salad. No matter what, I know it will be an instant favorite.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!

• Baguette - Buy pre-cut crostini pieces, or slice a crusty baguette into bite-sized pieces.

• Butter - Use this to toast the baguette pieces, adding rich flavor and creating a beautiful golden exterior.

• Cream cheese - Goat cream cheese is my go-to for an extra tangy flavor and creamy consistency that complements the sweetness of the berries.

• Blueberries - Look for fresh blueberries that are fairly firm so they hold their shape.

• Basil - The leaves not only serve as decorations but also add a bright, slightly sweet, and savory taste.

• Honey - This balances the tangy cheese and enhances the natural sweetness of the blueberries.

How to Make Goat Cheese with Honey Crostini

1. Toast the baguette. Cook both sides of the baguette pieces in melted butter in a pan over medium-high heat until golden brown. Set aside to cool slightly.

2. Layer. Top each toasted crostini piece with honey. Then, add goat cheese, and arrange the blueberries in a grape-looking cluster. Finish with a piece of basil, resembling a grape stalk.

Possible Variations

Goat Cheese - Switch up the flavor with herbed goat cheese. Or, add a special touch by blending the goat cheese until smooth and creamy. Not a fan of goat cheese? Use regular cream cheese or burrata instead.

• Blueberries - Use strawberries, blackberries, or raspberries for a slightly different taste.

• Basil - Try mint instead of basil for a brighter, more refreshing bite.

 • Toppings - Add extra depth to your goat cheese with honey bites by sprinkling a flaky sea salt, lemon zest, orange zest, or crushed pistachios.

FAQs

Can I make these goat cheese bites in advance?

Yes! You can toast the bread, and prep the toppings ahead of time. Store the toasted crostini separately in an airtight container, and assemble just before serving.

How should I serve this goat cheese appetizer?

I typically serve these bites as a starter for brunch and dinner parties. However, they’re also a great addition to charcuterie boards, alongside phyllo baked brie and strawberry bocconcini skewers.
