These adorable Avocado Bites, shaped like flowers, feature crispy baked tortilla shells topped with creamy hummus.

To make them, cut out tortilla flowers with a cookie cutter, and bake until golden. Top with hummus and sliced avocado flowers. The beautiful fanned avocado layer is surprisingly easy to shape and makes the presentation even more showstopping.

Serve the bites as a tasty snack or as an appetizer to kick off your next dinner party menu. They also make great salad toppers for added crunch.
Recipe Tip
A squeeze of lemon or lime juice on top of the avocado is delicious and helps prevent browning, too!
Avocado Bites Ingredients
Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!
- Avocado: I love Hass avocados with their dark skin and good fats. For the perfect ripeness, make sure the avocado is firm, but has a slight give without being too soft.
- Tortillas: I use plain flour tortillas for this recipe.
- Hummus: Storebought or homemade. Ideally, with lots of garlic, but use what you prefer.
- Seasoning: Add chili flakes, sea salt, and pepper.
How to Make Avocado Bites
- Prepare the tortilla base: Cut out the tortilla flowers with a cutter, brush them with olive oil, and bake them until golden.
- Make the avocado flowers: Slice the fruit into thin pieces. Flatten the slices and spread them out. Cut out the flowers.
- Assemble: Top the tortilla flowers with hummus and carefully place the avocado flowers on top.
- Final touches: Sprinkle with chili and garnish with a basil leaf.

Possible Variations
- Hummus: Feel free to replace with a chunkier hummus for added texture, or opt for pesto, cottage cheese, cream cheese, or even whipped feta.
- Tortilla: Swap with wholemeal, corn, gluten-free, or flavored tortillas.
- Avocado: Smash the avocado with hummus and top the mixture onto the baked tortillas if you’d like to save time making the fanned avocado.
- Chili: Try Tabasco, Tajin, or Worcestershire sauce for a different flavor. Or add freshness with lemon or lime juice.
