If you're looking for a spooky snack idea for the kids, try these cute Dead Spider Halloween Treats.

Made using chocolate rice cakes and topped with dark chocolate legs and red-veined candy eyes, this easy recipe is perfect for your next Halloween party.

The delicious creepy crawlies will make a fun addition to any lunchbox. You can also enjoy them as part of a dessert platter, along with your favorite Halloween candy.

You can use any chocolate, licorice rope, or chocolate-covered pretzel sticks to make the legs. And feel free to swap rice cakes for any (round) biscuits or cookies you prefer.

TIP: If you can't find rod sprinkles, use flaked almonds instead.

Ingredients

Instructions

Makes 3.

1. Melt the dark chocolate.

2. Place the chocolate in a piping utensil or bag.

3. Use a pencil to trace around the rice cake on a piece of parchment paper.

4. Turn the paper over and pipe eight v-shaped legs around the perimeter of the rice cake.

5. Top with the rice cake.

6. Allow to set.

7. Pipe chocolate x's on the back of the candy eyes (or leave them as they are).

8. Remove the parchment paper from the rice cake, being careful not to pull off the spiders' legs (if this happens, use melted chocolate to 'glue' them back on).

9. Top with candy eyes.

10. Pipe a mouth with dark chocolate.

11. Insert two rod sprinkles for the fangs (or use flaked almonds).

12. Cover the top of the fangs with chocolate.

13. Allow to set.
