Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!

• Strawberries: Pointy-shaped strawberries will work best for this recipe. Halve the berries and remove the leaves (or keep them on).

• Dark chocolate: I use a dark chocolate with 55% cocoa solids, but any chocolate will do.

• Candy eyes: Look for mini candy eyes, regular-sized candy eyes, or omit them.

How to Make Chocolate Turtles with Strawberry

1. Melt the dark chocolate.

2. Pour the chocolate into a piping tool or a bag.

3. Pipe the chocolate details on parchment paper.

4. Top with the halved strawberries.

5. Add candy eyes.

6. Allow to set.

Tips for Success

• Be sure to dry the cut side of the strawberries well before placing them on the chocolate. This will ensure the chocolate sticks to the berry.

• Let the chocolate harden in the fridge or at room temperature (depending on how cool your kitchen is).

Possible Variations

• Strawberries: Try any round or oval-shaped fruit (halved kiwi berries, large grapes, apples, pears, kiwi, plums, or apricots).

• Dark chocolate: Use any chocolate you like, whether you prefer white, milk, or dark. You can even use chocolate-covered strawberries to make the turtles for a different look.

• Candy eyes: If you don't have candy eyes, try sprinkles, chia seeds, sesame seeds, or mix one tablespoon of icing sugar with a tiny bit of water till it forms a paste. Dot the eyes on with one end of a toothpick abd make the pupil with chia seeds.

FAQs

The chocolate details are falling off. What did I do wrong?

To ensure the turtle holds together, pipe the head and legs, and then add a chocolate blob underneath the berry to connect the parts and hold it all together.

I don't have a piping tool, can I still make the turtles?

Absolutely, use a piping bag or a small plastic bag (just snip the corner).

How long will the strawberry turtles last?

Since the strawberries are cut, they are best enjoyed on the same day.

Are there other ways I can serve the turtles?

Top them onto cakes or cupcakes, serve them at Under-the-Sea themed birthday parties, enjoy them as a fun afternoon snack, or as part of a sweet movie night board.
