Halloween can be so much fun it has knocked out our Frankensteins. At least the Vampire’s Mouth Peppers, Kiwi Mummies, Kiwi Aliens, Mr. & Mrs. Watermelon Skeletons, Blueberry Creepy Crawlies and Kiwi Berry Eyes seem to be enjoying themselves.
Ingredients
- watermelon
- white chocolate
- kiwi berries (or grapes)
- yellow mini peppers
- vampire teeth
- kiwis
- pretzels (sticks)
- dark chocolate
- blueberries
- gingerbread man cookie cutter
- gingerbread woman cookie cutter
- candy eyes
- mini candy eyes
- vegetable peeler
- curved sprinkles
- piping utensil / bag
- parchment paper
Instructions
Instructions for the Knocked-Out Frankensteins:
1. Cut a line along the top third of the kiwi.
2. Use a vegetable peeler to remove the kiwi skin underneath the line.
3. Halve the kiwi and dry it with a piece of kitchen towel.
4. Cut a v-shape into the middle of the kiwi skin hair.
5. Melt some dark chocolate.
6. Use the melted chocolate and a toothpick to shape the eye and mouth details on the Frankensteins.
7. Stick pretzel stick ends into the side of the kiwis.
Instructions for the Blueberry Creepy Crawlies:
1. Make sure your blueberries are the same size.
2. Melt some dark chocolate.
3. Shape the dark chocolate legs onto parchment paper using a piping utensil or bag.
4. Top a small blob of chocolate onto the side of a blueberry and stick it together with another blueberry.
5. Place these on top of the legs you made.
6. Continue for three or four blueberries (the longer it is, the more fragile it will be).
7. Use melted chocolate to stick the mini candy eyes onto the first blueberry in line.
8. Allow to set.
Instructions for the Vampire's Mouth Peppers:
1. Shape a hole in the peppers similar in size to the vampire’s mouth you have.
2. Remove the insides of the pepper to make room for the vampire’s mouth.
3. Insert the mouth carefully.
Notes: Be sure to remove the vampire’s mouth before eating.
Instructions for Mr. and Mrs. Watermelon Skeletons:
1. Slice the watermelon.
2. Use the gingerbread man and woman cutter to shape the skeletons.
3. Dry the fruit with a piece of kitchen towel.
4. Melt some white chocolate.
5. Add the chocolate to a piping utensil / bag.
6. Pipe the skeleton details onto the shaped melon.
7. Allow to set.
Instructions for the Kiwi Berry Eyes:
1. Melt some white chocolate.
2. Using the tip of a small spoon, add a small amount of white chocolate to one end of the berries.
3. Top with candy eyes and allow to set standing (you can use some foil to shape a little folded holder).
Instructions for the Kiwi Mummies:
1. Peel the kiwi.
2. Halve it.
3. Dry it off with a piece of kitchen towel.
4. Melt some white chocolate.
5. Place the chocolate in a piping utensil / bag.
6. Pipe the kiwis with the white chocolate to resemble mummy bandages.
7. Top with candy eyes (you can use some white chocolate to stick them on).
8. Allow to set.
Instructions for the Kiwi Aliens:
1. Peel the kiwi.
2. Halve it.
3. Dry it off with a piece of kitchen towel.
4. Use some leftover melted chocolate to stick on three eyes.
5. Stick two pretzel stick ends into each side of the kiwi.
6. Top with a curved sprinkle for the mouth.
Arrange all on a platter and serve.
