Sliced thinly to resemble French fries, they’re paired with a sweet yogurt dip for a healthy snack that’s perfect for holidays, family gatherings, and everyday snacks enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

Everyone in my family loves watermelon, especially in recipes like my watermelon salsastrawberry watermelon salad, and mini watermelon snacks. However, when I want a quick option, these watermelon fries are always my go-to.

Recipe Tip

Cut the fries ‘skinny’ like I have, or make them chunkier if you prefer. You can even use a crinkle cutter for a fun zig-zig shape!

Crisp, sweet, and refreshing, the recipe comes together with simple ingredients and is extremely versatile. For instance, I sometimes add a dash of Tajin or a squeeze of lime juice and lime zest for a zesty kick. Or, I swap the regular vanilla yogurt for strawberry yogurt dip. No matter how the “fries” are served, they’re always a hit and are perfect for cooling off on hot summer days!

How to Make Watermelon Fries

  1. Slice the watermelon.
  2. Cut a slice into thin strips.
  3. Trim each strip into four fries.
  4. Arrange the fries on a platter and serve with a dip.

Recipe Tip

To make a tasty fruit dip, add a few strawberries or mixed berries to the yogurt, then blend everything slowly in a small food processor or blender.

FAQs

Can I make the platter in advance?

Yes. You can make the fries a few hours in advance. Cover them tightly with plastic wrap and store in the fridge. You may need to drain the platter for any leaked juices before serving.

What else can I serve the fries with?

Melted chocolate, whipped cream, or a lime and honey dressing would all be delicious alternatives.

I don’t have time to cut the fries so tiny, can I make them chunkier?

Absolutely! As long as they have a somewhat oblong, rectangular shape, they’ll still look like fries.
