I look forward to summer all year long and the chance to take advantage of all the beautiful, fresh produce with recipes like my summer fruit salad and summer burrata salad. Of course, I have to include a few sweet treats, too, and these chocolate blueberries are one I come back to again and again.

Recipe Tip

Try this sweet treat straight from the freezer, or stick them on a skewer with your favorite fruits for a healthy and colorful fruit kebab.

Almost too cute to eat, they’re delicious on their own or used as a topping with cakes and chocolate bark. I prepare a large batch of chocolate blueberry clusters at once and keep them on hand whenever a craving strikes. They’re perfect for pool parties, holidays, and they’re afternoon treats both kids and adults will eat!

Chocolate Covered Blueberries Ingredients

Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!

  • Blueberries: Use fresh blueberries that are firm and without blemishes.
  • Dark chocolate: I prefer to use a 55% dark chocolate bar for this recipe. But any dark chocolate that melts well is fine.
Two glass bowls on a gray surface, one brimming with blueberries and the other holding four pieces of dark chocolate.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Blueberries

  1. Melt the dark chocolate. Pour it into a small bowl.
  2. Dip the blueberries into the chocolate using a fork.
  3. Arrange them around a single, larger blueberry, making sure they connect.
  4. Allow the flowers to set on parchment paper.

Tips for Success

  • Make sure to dry the blueberries after washing them so the chocolate sets properly.
  • If the chocolate is too thick, add a teaspoon of neutral coconut oil to make it easier to coat the berries smoothly.
  • Choose larger blueberries for the center of the flowers, and smaller, similar-sized blueberries to place around it.
  • Tap off any excess chocolate.

Possible Variations

  • Blueberries: Swap for physalis, cherries, red or green grapes.
  • Dark chocolate: Milk or white chocolate.
  • Add-ins: Top the flowers with sprinkles, chopped pistachios, chia seeds, or freeze-dried fruit powder.

How to Store Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy them within 2 days.

FAQs

Can I use frozen blueberries?

No, frozen blueberries will get soggy as they thaw, so stick to fresh berries for this recipe.

I don’t have parchment paper. What else can I use?

A silicone mat or non-stick baking sheet should work. You can even use a flat surface from the freezer, such as an ice pack.

Can I freeze the flowers?

Yes! They make a delicious snack straight out of the freezer.
