Prep Time: 45 min.
The cutest little avocado squirrel pair, using all of the fruit, including the pit.
Ingredients
- avocados
- white cheddar
- candy eyes
- small oval-shaped cookie cutter
- small petal-shaped cookie cutter
Instructions
1. Cut the avocado in half.
2. Slice the bottom side of both halves, so the avocado can lie flat. These pieces will be used for the hands, feet, ears, mouth, nose and tail.
3. Use the oval-shaped cookie cutter to trim the hands and feet.
4. Cut triangles for the ears. Attach them by placing them on top of the tips of toothpicks.
5. Shape and trim the mouth.
6. Shape the nose using the small petal-shaped cutter.
7. If you don’t have enough leftover avocado to shape a big tail, you can just make a smaller one. Alternatively, you may need to use the peel from another avocado.
8. Cut along the middle of the avocado pit. Remove the peel from the bottom half. This should peel off fairly easily. If not you can use a small knife.
9. Cut four small rectangles out of cheese for each tooth.
10. Assemble the Squirrels.
