Prep Time: 20 min.

These dark chocolate blueberries are shaped like mini grape bunches, making them a fun and kid-friendly snack or dessert. Quick, easy, and versatile, they’re rich in flavor and full of nutrients!

I’ve been making these blueberry chocolate grapes for years, and they never get old. My kids love finding them in their lunchboxes, and guests enjoy them on dessert platters alongside chocolate fruit skewers and chocolate strawberry roses.

Almost too cute to eat, they’re reminiscent of fancy fruit shapes you find in chocolate shops, but come together with just three ingredients in a matter of minutes. Failproof and delicious, they’re my go-to for last-minute treats and so simple that kids can help make them, too.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!

• Blueberries – Use fresh, firm blueberries for the best texture and appearance. Also, make sure to wash and dry them first!

• Dark chocolate – I prefer 70% cacao or higher for a deep, rich flavor contrast when paired with sweet berries, but any chocolate will work. Look for dairy-free options, if needed.

• Fresh basil leaves – The finishing touch, these create the grape “leaves” and add a bright, herbaceous flavor. You can swap for fresh mint.

How to Make Grape-Shaped Dark Chocolate Blueberries

1. Melt the chocolate. Warm the chocolate in the microwave or a small pan on low heat. Stir frequently to prevent the chocolate from burning.

2. Shape. Transfer the melted chocolate to a piping utensil or bag, and pipe a large dot on each blueberry. Then, arrange six blueberries into the shape of grapes on parchment paper, connecting the chocolate so they hold together.

3. Garnish and serve. Pipe a dark chocolate stem at the top of the grapes, and place a basil leaf on the stem. Allow the chocolate to set and enjoy!

Possible Variations

• Blueberries – Use actual grapes, raspberries, or halved cherries instead.

• Chocolate - Swap dark chocolate for milk chocolate or white chocolate for a slightly different taste.

• Mix-Ins - Stir in orange zest, espresso powder, or sea salt into the chocolate for an extra burst of flavor.

FAQs

Can I make dark chocolate blueberry grapes ahead of time?

Yes! You can prepare this recipe up to 2 days in advance. Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container (keep them in a single layer).

Can I freeze blueberry chocolate grapes?

I don’t recommend it. The blueberries will release moisture once thawed, which can cause the grape shapes to break apart.
