Christmas Tree Rolls with sausages are a great go-to snack for all your holiday parties and celebrations, and make a showstopping centerpiece.

This easy Christmas appetizer only requires pizza dough (you can use puff pastry, too) and your favorite sausages.

Feel free to dollop pesto on top of each roll to make the tree even greener (and tasty, too). You can even use dots of mayo to resemble tree lights.

Recipe Tip

Fill the rolls with mustard, ketchup, sriracha, or hot honey.

Ingredients 

  • 280 grams pizza dough, 1 roll
  • 4 sausages, (frankfurter)
  • 1 egg
  • 6 fresh basil, leaves
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 10 rosemary, sprigs (to garnish)

Instructions 

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C / 392°F.
  • Spread out the rectangular pizza dough.
  • Halve the dough lengthwise, and then cut it into 16 symmetrical rectangles.
  • Slice the sausages into pieces that are as wide as the rectangles.
  • Roll the sausage pieces into the strips of pizza dough.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the snowmen standing up on the tray in a Christmas tree shape.
  • Brush with a beaten egg.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden.
  • Allow to cool.
  • Scatter basil leaves onto the tree.
  • Cut out the top yellow pepper star with a medium star cookie cutter.
  • Insert a toothpick into the star and stick it into the top of the tree.
  • Cut out small stars with the mini cutter and top these onto the basil leaves.
  • Garnish the tree with rosemary sprigs.
  • Serve with mustard or ketchup.
