Christmas Bruschetta is a must-try appetizer this holiday season!
The delicious combination of lightly toasted baguette slices topped with garlic cream cheese spread, tomato, and fresh basil is always a hit!
For a fun and festive touch, use alphabet cookie cutters to shape the tomatoes into Santa's favorite catchphrase - Ho Ho Ho!
You can use grape tomatoes or larger tomatoes, and if you want to save time, swap cream cheese for sundried tomato pesto or basil pesto and top with mozzarella Ho Ho Ho's instead.
Serve this easy bruschetta recipe throughout December, whether you are hosting a party or need a fun snack.
For other festive appetizers your family and friends will love, don't miss my snowman burrata, cheery cherry tomato platter, or snowman skewer-themed salad.
Ingredients
- 5 slices baguette (toasted)
- 10 grape tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons garlic cream cheese
- fresh basil
- sea salt
- pepper
- alphabet cookie cutters
Instructions
Makes 5.
1. Slice five pieces of bread and stick them in a toaster (you can also fry the slices golden in a hot pan with either butter or olive oil).
2. Halve the grape tomatoes lengthwise and spoon out the pit.
3. Place the 'H' and 'O' cookie cutters on the halved tomato (cut side facing up).
4. Use your fingers to pierce the tomato skin against the cookie cutter (you can also trim the outline with a knife).
5. Press the tomato letter out of the cutter.
6. Cut any excess pulp off the back of the letters so they can lay flat.
7. Continue until you have ten letters of each.
8. Spread the cream cheese onto the toasted baguette slices.
9. Top with two tomato HO HO's on each slice and a few fresh basil leaves.
10. Sprinkle with sea salt and pepper (balsamic vinegar would be delicious too).
11. Serve.
