Spooky Halloween Appetizers
Equipment
- piping utensil or bag
Ingredients
- 1 baguette
- 5 tablespoons cream cheese
- 150 grams red cheddar slices
- 1 cucumber
- 12 candy eyes
- 3 tablespoons balsamic glaze
Instructions
Pumpkin Crostini
- Slice the crostini and top with cream cheese.
- Shape the pumpkin out of red cheddar slices using a heart-shaped cookie cutter first, then trim with a glass to get the rounded base (I used a Pac-Man cookie cutter).
- Peel some cucumber for the stem.
- If you want to add dimension to the pumpkin, as I have done, then you can shape a piece of cheddar for the middle section and two pieces to the side.
- Place the pumpkin on top of the crostini and add candy eyes.
Mummy Crostini
- Slice the baguette and top with cream cheese.
- Cut a piece of cucumber about as wide as the bread you are using.
- Peel the cucumber and then cut long rectangular pieces.
- Slice these pieces into strips.
- Place two candy eyes on top of the crostini and then top with the cucumber strips.
Spiderweb Crostini
- Slice the baguette and top with cream cheese.
- Squeeze the balsamic glaze into a piping utensil or bag.
- Pipe three circles onto the bread, one bigger than the next.
- Drag a toothpick from the center to the edge of the bread to create the web details. I did this eight times.
- Arrange all the crostini on a platter and top with plastic spiders.
