Enjoy these snacks at spooky parties and school lunches, or serve them as an afternoon treat alongside my spider sausage rolls and blueberry ghosts. The kids can even help make them! The best part is, they’re perfectly suited to make ahead and store in the fridge!

Recipe Tip

To add to all the fun, make different facial expressions on the strawberry ghosts.

Ingredients

  • 7 strawberries
  • 100 grams white chocolate
  • 9 pretzels
  • 100 grams dark chocolate
  • 12 pretzels, sticks
  • 9 flaked almonds
  • 4 mini peppers, red and yellow
  • 1 teaspoon cream cheese
  • 100 grams red cheddar
  • 10 sprinkles, curved
  • 54 candy eyes

Instructions

Pretzel vampires

  • Melt the white chocolate.
  • Dip the pretzels in white chocolate. Tap to remove any excess, top with candy eyes, and leave to set on parchment paper.
  • Melt the dark chocolate in the same way as the white chocolate.
  • Add the chocolate to a piping utensil or bag.
  • Pipe the vampire cape collar onto parchment paper and place the white chocolate pretzel on top.
  • Squeeze some chocolate into the middle of the pretzel to mimic the mouth.
  • Top with flaked almonds for fangs.

Strawberry ghosts

  • Melt the white chocolate.
  • Place the chocolate in a piping utensil or bag.
  • Pipe the scalloped edge and cover the part above with white chocolate.
  • Top with candy eyes and some melted dark chocolate on the edge of a metal straw for the mouth. Alternatively, you can use a curved sprinkle.

Pretzel brooms

  • Cut the cheese into little blocks. Mine were about 5 cm. x 2 cm. (2 inches x 0.8 inches).
  • Trim broom bristles into the bottom half of the block. I made two or three cuts across on both sides.
  • Use a metal straw at the top of the block to create a hole. The cheese should come out with the straw if you move it back and forth gently.
  • Insert the pretzel stick carefully into the hole.
  • Fan out the bristles of the cheese.
  • Top with candy eyes (I just placed mine on but you can secure it with edible glue if you prefer).
  • Add a curved sprinkle for the smile.

Pepper frankensteins

  • Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the mouth details into the peppers.
  • You can fill this with cream cheese to make the mouth more visible.
  • Top with candy eyes (you can use a little edible glue to secure them).
  • Make a little hole at each side and insert a small piece of pretzel stick.
  • Arrange on a platter and serve.
