This Christmas Veggie Tray is perfect if you want to spread joy this holiday season but also want something ready in five minutes. All you need is a cucumber, alphabet cookie cutters, and a delicious garlic and dill dip.

Top the platter with any festive message you want – ‘Merry Xmas,’ ‘Santa is Coming,’ ‘Ho Ho Ho,’ or ‘Snow be it’ (cause who doesn’t love a pun) are all great options.

Serve this Christmas veggie platter as a fun snack, or add all your favorite crackers, fruits, cheese, and cured meats to enjoy as part of a delicious charcuterie board. Yum.

You can even shape the cucumber slices into a Christmas wreath with the dip in the middle and then make a bow out of red pepper similar to the one on my sausage roll wreath.

Equipment

  • alphabet cookie cutters

Ingredients 

  • 1 cucumber

Garlic dip

  • 200 grams sour cream, or creme fraiche
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, or 2 tsp dried
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • fresh basil leaves

Instructions 

  • Mix the sour cream (or creme fraiche), fresh or dried dill, minced garlic, onion powder, sea salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the dip into a serving bowl.
  • Place the bowl on a platter.
  • Slice the cucumber.
  • Arrange the plain cucumber slices onto the platter.
  • Use the alphabet cutters to cut the words ‘Merry Xmas’ (or similar) out of cucumber slices.
  • Place the cucumber cut outs on your plate.
  • Decorate with basil leaves and serve.
