One of my favorite party appetizers, these champagne cheese crackers are crisp, savory, salty, and foolproof to make! With no actual cooking required, they’re ready to eat in minutes, and the recipe can easily be scaled up to serve a crowd.

Festive and fun, these crackers are one of my go-to appetizers for Christmas and New Year celebrations. For small gatherings, I set out a tray alongside drinks for guests to snack on.

Then, for parties and larger gatherings, I serve these bites as part of a complete party spread alongside options like my cucumber cream cheese bites and smoked salmon canapés

Party Appetizers Ingredients

Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details!

  • Rectangular crackers: I like to use long, flat Italian crackers called Linguette. Any rectangular crackers will work.
  • Cheddar: You need slices of both white and red cheddar for the best results.
  • Rosemary sprigs: To garnish.

How to make Party Appetizers

  1. Use an ice lolly cookie cutter and red cheddar to shape the champagne glass (top and bottom). Cut out the stem by hand.
  2. Trim the white cheddar into the ‘champagne’ and cut out bubbles with a metal straw.
  3. Arrange the cheese onto the crackers.
  4. Garnish with rosemary.

Possible Variations

  • Crackers: Swap for crostini or baguette slices, or make mini versions on cucumber slices.
  • Cheddar: Try any sliced cheese you like.
  • Add-ins: Olive tapenade, pesto, fig jam, or herby cream cheese for even more flavor!

How to Store Leftovers

Keep leftovers covered with plastic wrap and in the fridge. They are best enjoyed on the same day.

FAQs

Can I make the crackers in advance?

You can make them a few hours ahead, and keep them in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. Take them out 30 minutes before serving.

I don’t have an ice lolly cookie cutter. What do I do?

In that case, cut out a paper ‘template’ and use it to shape the cheese.

What drinks can I serve with the cheese and crackers?

This is a mild-tasting appetizer, so it can be paired in so many ways. Try Champagne, beer, G&Ts, or white wine.
