Serve these showstopping bites as a tasty appetizer or include them on your next charcuterie board, fruit platter, or crunchy salad.

Recipe Tip

The cheese skewers are perfect for a lunchbox, too!

Cheese and Grape Skewers with green grapes and tulip-shaped cheddar cheese are arranged on a wooden board, accented by pink tulips and a bowl of grapes nearby.

Replace the cheese and fruit with carrot and cucumber for a veggie version, or use mozzarella, grape tomatoes, and basil for a classic caprese.

Cheese and Grape Skewers Ingredients

  • Cheddar cheese: I like mild red cheddar, but white cheddar is fine, too. Choose a sharp cheddar for even more flavor.
  • Grapes: Opt for firm, bright green, and oblong-shaped grapes, so they resemble leaves more when you halve them.

How to Make Cheese and Grape Skewers

  1. Prepare the flowers: Cut the cheese into strips. Halve each strip and cut out the oval shapes or cut into rectangles. Trim a ‘V’ at the top to make the flowers.
  2. Halve the grapes
  3. Assemble the skewers: Add four halved grapes at an angle and finish with the cheese flowers.

Recipe Tip

When serving these bites, don’t forget a bowl or tall glass so your guests can dispose of their skewers.

Possible Variations

  • Cheddar: Use any hard type of cheese you prefer such as gruyere, gouda, Parmesan, pecorino, or feta. Even a nice soft cheese like mozzarella will work. You can use swap for veggies like carrot, cucumber, peppers, avocado, or beetroot.
  • Grapes: Try red grapes, olives, or red/yellow grape tomatoes.
  • Presentation: Turn the grapes over so the flat side is up for a different look.
  • Skewers: Use toothpicks if that’s what you have available, or if you want smaller bites.

FAQs

What if I don’t have a cookie cutter? Can I still make the flowers?

Absolutely, just shape the cheese into cubes and cut a v-shape at the top to make a tulip shape.

Can I make the cheese skewers ahead of time?

Yes, they are fine to make a few hours ahead. Cover them with plastic wrap, and keep them cool in the fridge.

How long can these skewers stay at room temperature?

Around 2 hours, but hopefully they’ll all be eaten by then.
