Ingredients

  • 25 grams butter
  • 2 onions large, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 200 grams sour cream
  • 150 grams cream cheese plain
  • 2 tablespoons chives fresh, chopped
  • sea salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  • Heat the butter in a pan on medium-high heat.
  • Add the chopped onions and brown on medium-high for 5-10 minutes. Keep stirring to avoid burning.
  • Turn the heat down to medium-low and brown for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Season with sea salt to taste.
  • Allow the caramelized onions to cool.
  • Mix onions, onion powder, sour cream, cream cheese, one tablespoon finely chopped chives, and maple syrup.
  • Add sea salt and pepper to taste.
  • Spoon into a serving bowl.
  • Sprinkle with fresh chopped chives.
