- 25 grams butter
- 2 onions large, chopped
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- 200 grams sour cream
- 150 grams cream cheese plain
- 2 tablespoons chives fresh, chopped
- sea salt
- pepper
Heat the butter in a pan on medium-high heat.
Add the chopped onions and brown on medium-high for 5-10 minutes. Keep stirring to avoid burning.
Turn the heat down to medium-low and brown for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
Season with sea salt to taste.
Allow the caramelized onions to cool.
Mix onions, onion powder, sour cream, cream cheese, one tablespoon finely chopped chives, and maple syrup.
Add sea salt and pepper to taste.
Spoon into a serving bowl.
Sprinkle with fresh chopped chives.
